Did President Bush leak the information to justify the war in Iraq? It appears he did, but what can we do now about it? We are stuck in a very unpopular war that has murky merits at best. However, its time to quit pointing fingers in regards to he said she said, rather we need to focus on how to win this war so we can bring our soldiers back home to their families.
This war is costing us more than we can spare and its time we quit looking for past ghosts and work towards the resolution. We can punish the Republican party in the upcoming elections if we feel betrayed but as for right now we need to focus our attention on how to win the Iraq war and get out of that country. They want us out, we want out, who is really the only one saying we need to stay? I think it’s the same won who actually prematurely called the war over.
Arlen Specter, the Republican chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, stated that President Bush should speak address Americans about the leak of classified intelligence that was released to refute an Iraq war critic, “The president of the United States owes a specific explanation to the American people…The president may be entirely in the clear, and it may turn out that he had the authority to make the disclosures which were made.”
Scooter Libby reportedly confirmed the allegations in a report that has been discussed throughout Washington. At stake is not only the accuracy of the allegations but the integrity of the President and his White House Administration. America needs the truth; even if President Bush did leak the information his admission cannot be any worse than the wild speculation rampant throughout our country.
Our President needs to address the American people on the leak issue as well as the war issue and the immigration issue. It seems like forever since we have heard from the President.
