Wes Clark Goes After Bush And Republicans

Former Democratic presidential candidate Wesley Clark spoke out loudly over the weekend while accusing the Bush administration of taking the nation on a so called ‘path to nowhere’ with their misguided moves on national security. The speech was quite an attention getter for the mild mannered retired Army General. Many have perceived the Democrats as being weak on national security and terrorism but Wesley Clark feels that is an old stigma and completely wrong in modern times.

The former presidential candidate wants America to give Democrats a chance at correcting the past mistakes the current Bush Administration has made, and allow the Democrats to make America a more safer, and productive, country. Could the Democrats rally have done anything differently the past five years? Many say yes, others say it is just Monday morning quarterbacking.

Retired Army General and former NATO military commander, Wesley Clark argued in the Democrats’ weekly radio address that the United States needs a new plan to win the war on terror. He cites deficiencies in finding Osama bin Laden, fighting a needless war in Iraq, porous border security, and the inability of the Bush Administration to stop the flow of weapons proliferation in North Korea and Iran. The retired General feels he, and his party, can make a difference and he feels America is ready for a change.

Recent polls show that America is unhappy with the outsourcing situation, as well as rising gas prices, and the illegal immigration issue. Many feel the political seats up for grabs this election year are ripe for Democratic control and recently even staunch Republicans have broken from the President on critical issues. Can the Democrats really change anything in regards to the gas and oil issues? Many also wonder how a liberal government would really deal with the immigration issue. As far as the war in Iraq goes, I think both Republicans, and Democrats, will be bringing this failed presidential policy to an end as soon as possible.

Does the rhetoric put forth by the General really have bite? Do you agree with his views? Many do but many also say we have to let President Bush and his policies run their course. This will definitely be an interesting topic as the voting time nears this year.
