Immigration Still A Big Issue For Bush And America

Immigration for Mexicans to America does not benefit the Mexicans as much as it seems, or that we are being told. America has an almost 6% unemployment rate, Mexico is barely under 3.5%, that would lead me to believe there are more people working in comparison in Mexico than America, so why is President Bush trying to give away our American jobs to citizens of a country who experience half as much unemployment as Americans do?

This does not make sense unless you allow yourself to consider the Lou Dobbs opinion that believes the immigration policy is a way for big business to get cheap labor into the country without breaking laws. I wish more individuals had the backbone of mister Dobbs and spoke out in the correct manner he does. He, like myself, supports immigration, legal immigration. Any other form of immigration is illegal and that makes these individuals not immigrants but lawbreakers, criminals, and unlawfuls. That is not a statement of their person just of their status. If you are a good person then register like all good people do otherwise you are breaking the law and you cannot be a good person and a lawbreaker at the same time, can you?

In response to growing concern, House conservatives were disparaging about the President Bush policy on immigrants and they are finally showing a pair by standing up and speaking their mind on a very important issue to the American people. Many are wondering what the President is actually doing in regards to immigration, and employment. Many believe that President Bush is flaunting public opinion and desire for the needs and desires of big business. Most Americans believe President Bush wants to push through immigration policy so that the rich get rich and the poor get poorer, thus making more people reliant on the rich. Some Senators accused the Senate of fouling the air, they went as far as to suggest that prisoners rather than illegal farm workers should pick America’s crops if this is such a desperate, in need, area. Some Senators also denounced the use of Mexican flags by protesters Thursday in a vehement attack on legislation to liberalize U.S. immigration laws.

Representative Dana Rohrabacher of California was one of the more outspoken politicians on the immigration issue the past week. Dana is one of more than a dozen Republicans who condemned a Senate bill that potentially offers an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants an opportunity for citizenship.

Representative Steve King was quoted as saying,” Anybody that votes for an amnesty bill deserves to be branded with a scarlet letter ‘A,…The elite class in America is becoming a ruling class and they’ve made enough money by hiring cheap illegal labor that they think they also have some kind of a right to cheap servants to manicure their nails and their lawn, for example. So this ruling class, this new ruling class of America, is expanding a servant class in America at the expense of the middle class of America, the blue collar of America that used to be able to punch a time clock, buy a modest house and raise their families. … Those young people are cut out of this process.”

America has been challenged as we never have been before in the global war on terror. While we are engaged in this war we are also experiencing domestic problems at home which appear to weaken our defenses. Many say that our borders and ports remain insecure well after the 9/11 attacks woke Americans up to the fact that we were vulnerable. The Report Card on the countries terrorism preparedness was appalling yet nothing has really been done to change anything. Many feel that the money we spend in Iraq, and Afghanistan, could be better used in domestic programs at home. Many Senators, and Congressman, have stated that our lack of border and port security is a failure by the Bush Administration and their policies. They are starting to say more and more around the capital that it is ridiculous to spend billions of dollars fighting the war in Iraq while we spend almost nothing to protect our own borders.
