Illegal immigration has caused quite a stir in Washington and this is only the beginning. There are protestors everywhere for both sides of the illegal immigrant amnesty issue. Bill Frist fired out a statement on the Senate floor which I stand by myself, he stated, “I disagree with this approach (amnesty), not just as a matter of principle, but because granting amnesty now will only encourage future and further disrespect for the law.” How right you are Bill my man.
Others countered with the issue of what to do with the 11 million illegal immigrants and that they are a security concern. I say lets find the man\woman responsible for them getting past our security in the first place and let’s jail them up. If Bush is the President wanting to be remembered for security then let’s have him remove all illegal’s and start from scratch. Let’s see how security conscious he is in protecting our borders then. If he won’t boot them then it must be because the rich and famous don’t want to landscape their own yards, care for their own children, or do their own home rebuilding projects, or cook and serve their own dinners. Should American lives be jeopardized so the rich can lead the life of luxury they want?
The majority leader of the Senate has produced his own immigration proposal, which lacked the legalization process and a provision in the committee’s bill to create a guest-worker program allowing immigrants to hold jobs not filled by Americans. In general I agree with the Senators proposal, I think we both support immigration but it must be legal immigration. Can you name me one civilized, and domesticated, country in the world that practices illegal immigration practices? How can this even be a question in America?
Frist went on to say that an immigration bill passed by the House in November did not contain a guest-worker program and was incomplete. The Senator stated, “It fails to provide a comprehensive solution to our immigration situation, one that allows for necessary and helpful legal immigration and that welcomes those who played by the rules.”
We have a hard enough time keeping Americans employed do we really have to be the unemployment office of the country of Mexico? We create our own work, and economy, can we be expected to account for the Mexican Presidents failures? He needs to create work for his own citizens and President Bush needs to worry about American citizens’ more than Mexican ones. I know he feels his victory was a mandate but aren’t we the ones he represents; he was not elected President of the Globe was he?
