Dirty Bomb Sneaks Into Country, Bush Needs To Step Up Domestically

With all the talk of immigration changes, and border protection, America is very focused on security. Then we receive word that two teams of government investigators were able to enter the country with radioactive materials and our hopes and dreams go up in smoke. Once again we are on the panic alert and our darkest fears in regards to our countries defenses are brought back out. This is like a nightmare that continues each time you go back to sleep. How can this end?

Is more focus needed domestically by President Bush or is there another answer? How can we profess to be so self-conscious yet our borders are as porous as a pasta strainer? What can be done? What will be done?

It was reported that individuals relying on fake documents were able to enter the United States with sufficient radioactive material to make at least two dirty bombs, this as stated by a federal report made available Monday.

Thank God this was only an exercise but it makes me wonder, why are we spending billions in Iraq on security when we definitely need much more of it right here. All the efforts we put forth around the world don’t mean a thing if we lose our way of life right here in domestic America. The investigators reportedly purchased a small amount of radioactive materials from a commercial source. The investigators obtained the material while posing as employees of a fabricated company. They then loaded up and brought the materials into the United States through checkpoints on the northern and southern borders.

I am amazed that with all the Bush Administrations talk about the war on terror, and the need of security, we can have this happen. Is our focus actually on the wrong issues? Are we missing the bigger picture by focusing on Iraq, and Afghanistan? They always say the most dangerous spot to locate a problem is right beneath your own nose, maybe this exercise has pointed this out and we will not need a mushroom cloud to make sure we address this issue immediately. Where is Jack Bauer when you need him? Put him in charge of this mess, it will be straightened up quickly you can count on that.
