The President was speaking to CNN Mexico when he started in on his rhetoric regarding the Immigration bills being discussed in Washington. One thing the really irked me is how the President repeatedly says Mexicans are coming in and working hard at the jobs Americans won’t do. This remark by President Bush offends me as an American. First of all, I do not know of one job an out of work American would turn down.
Secondly, I appreciate the Mexican work ethic but Americans would work just as hard at any job as would a Mecxican. I believe he President is merely covering for big business on this one. They can’t outsource enough so they want the President to do some of their dirty work and make slave wage labor in America possible. This is rediculous.
The President can say Americans won’t do certain jobs all he wants but he better not come to Michigan and say this. The unemployment rate is up sky high in Michigan and many believe it is President Bush and his lax trade policies that putmany good men on the streets. I would liek to see the President tell Michiganders that there are obs that have to be done by illegal immigrants because Americans won’t. He will get some truth then.
I wish more Americans stood up to this statement. How dare the President make us out to be some uppity-to-good to do something spoiled brat looking citizen. We are hard workers and because of his trade policies we are taking jobs that offer menial pay and extremely hard labor.
No mater how many times President bush says it we must never believe it. Americans are hard working people, we would never not do a job because the works too hard. I believe his rhetori is more the front for big business to bring in the salve wage salaries and milk us ofr all we have.
If the President wants to really do something why does’nt he address the cost of gasoline, now thats where someone is being taken advantage of.
Lets just let the men and woman of Arggh protect our borders and handle the immigration deal.
“big business on this one” i dont think so.. its a fact that they just dont want those jobs, call them lazy i dont know.
I believe that Americans would do these jobs if they were available; if they paid a decent wage, and if we would get the lazy Americans sitting on their butts drawing welfare up at working. If they don’t like those jobs, then let them find better ones. The losers in all of this are the American taxpayers and voters.
