Abdul Rahman is soon to be released but the problems this man brought to light are a thorn in the side for Afghanistan and now we want more answers. This mans persecution has brought to light just how badly many clerics manipulate the religion of Islam so that they can hold on to their political power and influence. Anyone who has ever bothered to take the itme to actually research the beginnings of Islam, and the life of Mohammad, understand that Mohammad was raised on Christian, and Jewish, values, and that Mohammad created Islam because he wanted a more devout form of Christianity.
He was searching for a purer version of Christianity when he was supposedly enlightened. How can these Muslim clerics bastardize the teachings of Mohammad just to maintain their hold on power? These clerics are like the modern day nazi’s, they want to hold on to their power at all costs, and God bless Abdul Rahman for standing up to their oppression. These clerics who threaten to have Abdul torn to pieves are more afraid of the freedom of thought than they are of actually losing souls. These clerics are more political than religious, it’s just a shame so many cannot see this.
In Afghanistan it has been reported that Senior Muslim clerics are demanding that Abdul Rahman, an innocent Afghan man on trial for converting from Islam to Christianity, be put to death for converting. The clerics have issued a warning to the Afghanistan government that if it caves in to Western pressure and frees Abdul Rahman, they will resort to inciting the Muslim populace to pull Abdul Rahman into pieces. Condoleezza Rice on Sunday said to Tim Russert that we should be patient in regards to this issue; she also compared America’s struggles to that of Afghanistan. I love Condoleezza but the comparison is impossible to make. There is no comparison to this issue and that of anything America faced during its initial stages. I also wonder what type of religious individuals incite people to the type of violence being spoken of. How can a religious leader threaten such acts? It appears to me that this type of Islam is more like political Nazi’ism than it is a religion. Is Islam becoming more of a political party than a religion? To many it appears so.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice telephoned Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai last week seeking assistance for Abdul Rahman. However, the actions of the Presdient are as of this time unconfirmed. The issue has become a political firestorm and it has brought back talk of what many compare to the Hitler idea of a supreme race. How can a government support such an oppressive policy and even more concerning is the question of how democratic governments can deal with such a country.
Many wonder if the Islamic clerics are actually following the true instructions of Mohammad or are they just enforcing policy beneficial to their own life and ideals? Many say that the Muslim clerics in the area are afraid of losing power and influence and they want to maintain their stranglehold on the power by falling back on religious edicts. One such cleric named Abdul Raoulf stated, “Rejecting Islam is insulting God. We will not allow God to be humiliated. This man must die.” Where is the compassion Mohammad taught? Have Muslims forgotten that Mohammad was a believer in many Christian values? Maybe Muslims need to study the true history of Islam and not just follow blindly the beliefs of these radical clerics.
