Has President Bush turned into Alexander the Great in regards to Iraq and the spread of democracy? Will he fail like Alexander? Questions must be asked? Has everyone forgotten that the only reason we went to war in Iraq was to eliminate the weapons of mass destruction? Since there are no weapons, we have completed our job. It’s time to leave. I do not recall us saying we have to rebuild a nation when we began this war, we were only supposed to find the weapons of mass destruction and eliminate them. Since there are no weapons to be found it should be called mission complete and our brae soldiers should be brought home immediately.
The policy of rebuilding Iraq is like when you go to buy a car and the shady salesman slips in the extended warranty on you, it costs more than you were told and you really don’t need it. Has the Bush Administration pulled a used car salesman trick on the American public by keeping us in a war under false pretenses, or reasons? We were told we went to war for WMD’s, since they are gone shouldn’t we bring our boys back home?
Where are all the purple finger people now? It appears the purple has been washed away by the blood red stains of a civil war. However, the Bush Administration advises that this is not a civil war just a little civil unrest. Months ago the free elections in Iraq were hailed as the next best thing to the second coming. However, it has not gotten any better since this time and it actually appears to be getting worse. How much longer will the American people have to support the failed policy of the Administration and what will be the final cost to our country?
We have made the sacrifices, we have supported the soldiers. We have tolerated the speeches and we have learned to accept the news images. However, it appears the Iraq War policy is not getting us anywhere and if anything it appears things are actually regressing in Iraq.
I am not seeing the people embracing the freedoms we supplied; I am not seeing the policy changes. What I am seeing is racist violence and religious oppression. I am not seeing anything the Bush Administration promised us and I am growing tired of the rhetoric.
I believe that America has many issues it needs to resolve internally, we need our president to focus his eyes on America and turn from trying to be Alexander the Great. Rather than try to conquer the world with Democracy how about just getting America back on its fiscal feet?
What Is Bush Doing In Iraq, And What Is Going On There?
The Iraqi government has demanded the US cede power. The troops think it’s time to move out; 72% want us out within a year. One in four think we should leave now. And the American people want us out. In November of 2005 the majority of American citizens, 59%, wanted us out. Undoubtedly that number has only increased over the last 4 months. Yet Bush continues to ignore the choir. Because he sucks.
