Better Idea For Bush And The Iraq Aid

Screw Iraq, and let’s take the 91 billion in aid and send every child here in America to college, how is that for a policy change? Imagine the good in the world that would result from this. How many of you want to jump on board this shift in policy? It sure sounds a lot better than what we currently have doesn’t it? What will it take to get the current Bush Administration to admit that the policy in Iraq has failed and that civil war is going on in the streets of Iraq?

Iraqs’ own politicians are saying that civil war is occurring, are we to neglect their statements and believe the same administration that assured us that WMD’s would be found, or that Osama bin Laden would be captured? The war on terror is being waged but are we really seeing any tangible results? Meanwhile America’s infrastructure is crumbling and our debt is rising beyond belief. Will President Bush legacy be of a nation builder or a two nation destroyer? And can anyone in this Administration explain to me how they can say with a straight face that Iraq is a success at this point?

President Bush said that while Americans might be disappointed by events in Iraq, he sees signs of progress. I think he needs to market these rose colored glasses to 75% of America because trust me, we see through the rhetoric and we are getting frustrated by the policy. We see young men and woman go over to Iraq never to return to their proud parents. We see libraries closing and police officers being laid off while we supply Iraq with infrastructure.

I would like to know where it is written in any form of documentation that my tax dollars can be designated to help out foreign countries while my own country is losing numerous federal programs that help the sick and the poor. Why should fellow Americans suffer while we waste away money in Iraq? Let’s take the 91 billion and send every child to college in America, imagine the good that would do for the world.

President bush advised that “The situation on the ground remains tense…In the face of continued reports about killings and reprisals, I understand how some Americans have had their confidence shaken…Others look at the violence they see each night on their television screens, and they wonder how I can remain so optimistic about the prospects of success in Iraq. They wonder what I see that they don’t.” It’s not others any longer; it’s now become the majority.

We need to get back to focusing on America, it is not our job to save the world just live in it and help things move along. While Bush is fiddling in Iraq parts of America are deteriorating, we need his focus back on our needs, not that of a country half way around the world.
