Operation Swarmer Changes Nothing In Iraq

Operation Swarmer, the name sounds tough enough, I know the troops executing it are definitely tough enough, but what about the individuals who generated the Operation, what exactly are their credentials? Was Operation Swarmer a military plan thought up by military leaders or was it a decree from the White House so that we can get some adrenaline pumping once again for this failed policy of the war in Iraq?

Our soldiers have done the job admirably but they should not be out on missions just to boost our Presidents image, they need to be doing what needs to be done and then brought home. What is the game plan here, are they going to just keep going out on missions every three or four months until eternity or is there an actual strategy to win the war and end these missions and bring our boys back home?

Military helicopters buzzing farms as part of Operation Swarmer does not do it for me any longer. When I see these choppers I start thinking about how much it is costing us to chase down a 5 dollar a day earner with a million dollar chopper and two very expensive pilots. I also can’t image the cost of our missiles compared to these despicable car bombs. We must also remember that operation Swarmer failed to catch one important insurgent, nor did it really stir up any hornet’s nest of activity for us to shut down. The operation was expensive and the result was nothing.

I don’t want to hear about any more missions until I hear the real mission completed. I think Americans have sacrificed enough both home and abroad for the countries in that region. Have we quickly forgotten that we spent millions of dollars there 15 years ago and changed nothing? I want policy change not a military show of force. We unleash the military for 5 minutes then cage them up the rest of the year, what kind of policy is that? Either let them unleash their fury and end this our just bring them home, having this half-way in kind of war is never going to be winnable.

Call me whatever you want but I believe many Americans agree with me. I am all for securing our nation but at the cost of lives, and billions, and billions, I am just wanting a better solution. The temporary replay of shock and awe is not winning me over, I want more tangible, and lasting, results.

  1. I want this ended and I want the President back to work for America. How right you are in your observation, I hope the catcalls only get louder.
