The White House is all choked up about the Dubai Ports World deal. Congress is also choked up about the deal but unlike the White House, these lawmakers are not striking out in anger they are reaching out to their enemies. Politicians on both sides of the aisle are reaching out to each other and creating friendships and deals in an unheard of manner in order to slow down, or potentially halt, the Dubai Ports World deal. If these friendships are being made in an election year like 2006 promises to be, I think you can be assured there is a lot more to look into than we have seen so far.
The President can say trust me all he wants but I remember him also saying he had no previous knowledge of the sale prior to a week before the new story took off. Therefore, I have a hard time trusting his judgment on this one. I also find it suspicious that with such a close, and tough, election year in 2006, why are so many politicians working with each other from both sides of the aisles. Usually election years display the worst of partisanship but this year appears to be unique so far, and the only reason I can think of is the Dubai World ports deal.
The President says we must trust other countries but I say they must earn our trust, it should not be blindly given to show someone we like them, or believe in them. We are talking about American citizen safety, I don’t care who thinks we are slighted, we must protect ourselves first, second, and lastly.
I also wonder why we have not hired Americans to guard our ports, is this some terrible low paying job I have not heard about? Why aren’t we hiring Americans to do this work?
