How do you judge the man being held accountable for one of the worst crimes committed against the United States? How can we vent our pain, and suffering, fairly on just one individual? Lest anyone forget, the one and only 9-11 criminal on trial is being prepared for the beginning of his sentencing phase of trial and the world is watching to see how justice is metered out to this individual.
Reportedly prosecutors will be seeking the death penalty in the sentencing phase of the trial of al Qaeda member Zacarias Moussaoui, who is the only individual charged in the United States in connection with the 9-11 terrorist attacks.
The names have come and gone so fast in this war on terror that most have forgotten the name Zacarias Moussaoui . However, the friends and families of 9-11 victims have not and they want justice administered in the strictest fashion to this unremorseful individual. Prosecutors are going to argue that Moussaoui should be executed because of his supposed lies to FBI agents in regards to his knowledge of what other al Qaeda operatives were doing prior to the 9-11 attacks.
In regards to the law of the land, the jury can only consider a death sentence in this case if the prosecutors are able to show that Moussaoui’s lying assisted in the murder of nearly 3,000 people in the September 11, 2001, attacks.
Moussaoui was arrested in August 2001 when he aroused suspicion at a Minnesota flight school. Since his arrest, Moussaoui has pleaded guilty to terrorism conspiracy but he has steadfastly denied having a direct role in the 9/11 plot. Moussaoui has maintained his statement that he was meant for a different airliner mission. However, can you really trust anything a man involved with the innocent murders of thousands would say?
