Iran has advised it will be resuming large-scale nuclear enrichment if the International Atomic Energy Agency board of governors refers the Islamic Republic to the United Nations Security Council, this according to the country’s chief nuclear negotiator. So what does the world do? Do we wait for them to actually gain a nuclear bomb and then blackmail counties within its geographic area or do we hit them hard and hope we stop them dead in their tracks?
Iran has declared it would like nothing more than to wipe Israel off the face of the earth, if they develop a nuclear bomb many say this would be their first act of defiance to the world that would announce them as a nuclear power. If you don’t believe me just research some of their comments on Israel the past two months, or even the past two years, then explain to me how they would not take this course of action.
As if the threat of nuclear destruction is not bad enough we also have Ali Larijani advising the world that Iran may use its oil production as a weapon to inflict damage on the global economy if the nuclear situation makes it to the U.N. Security Council. So do we wait and let them have more weapons to defy the world with or do we try to end this ridiculous form of rhetoric right here and now? How can the world be blind to the megalomaniac tendencies being shown here?
The International Atomic Energy Agency meets Monday, and after this meeting it is anticipated they will hand the matter over to the Security Council, this will supposedly set the threats of Iran into motion. Ali Larijani stated “Referral to the Security Council will not have any benefit for us or anyone else.”
“And this will actually cause a lot of problems for others. Referral to Security Council would definitely be a setback to the discussion and the talks. To have a nuclear program, this is our God-given right, and no country will give up such a right. We have left all the doors open for discussion…We will definitely resume our enrichment and if Iran is referred to the Security Council.”
So the question remains what does the world do? Do we buckle to the potential blackmailing of this countries government or do we stand firm against the rhetoric? How far are we willing to go on this one? And at what cost will the civility of the world be maintained? Can we afford to let this country potentially develop a nuclear weapon or do we just sit this out? These are important questions that must be asked.
