Bush Not An Enemy Of Islam, Only Terrorism

Talk about the abolition of the divide between Church and State, one Iran’s Supreme Leaders Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared on Friday that Islam must “conquer the world” by defeating the West. I know many people hold President Bush in contempt for his war on terror but when you hear statements like this it makes President Bush’ actions appear very reasonable.

Many do not like how long we have been involved in the war in Iraq but when you consider the stance of Iran you understand the Presidents concern. Iran is trying to rally support from Islam throughout the world and when you consider the radical leadership of Iran you can see there is reason for concern.

Hojjatol-Islam Alireza Panahyan warmed up the crowd for the Supreme Leaders’ speech by advising that the West is trying to put fear into the hearts of Muslims through torture and nuclear weapons. He then followed with more rhetoric and hate speech designed to inspire anti-western hatred throughout the crowd. Panahyan then went on to say that, “We intend to conquer the world without [nuclear] weapons. Such weapons are not needed to set the stage for the return of the [Shiite messiah] Mahdi.”

I do not understand how religious leaders can hijack a religion like Islam in so many areas and twist its followers so that the political desires of the religious leaders are followed. It appears at times that the real devout religious followers of Islam are used as mere pawns in a political war waged by various so called religious leaders.

President Bush is not an enemy of Islam, he is an enemy of terror. The terror just happens to be perpetrated by Muslims hijacking the religion of Islam.

There are millions of intelligent Muslims in the world, how can they allow themselves to be so mislead? Can’t they see that the leaders trying to inspire hatred are merely using their religion as a manipulation tool? I feel for the true religious Muslims because they get caught up in association with the Radical Islam that spouts this form of hatred and manipulation. I look at issues like the Mohammad cartoon and I see how so many Muslim leaders used the issue to inspire hatred more than create an honest and open discussion of religious tolerance. I only hope Muslims around the world realize what is going on and take action against these users. President Bush is not the enemy; the enemy is an enemy within.
