Woops there it is, woops there it is. That was th catch phrase to an old hip-hop song that caught on in America like wildfire. It is also a phrase the Bush Administration is murmuring behind closed doors because there is now proof that the President knew the dire situation in New Orleans and did nothing preemptive to help. The tape also displays that Michael Brown took the wrath for the mishaps but in reality he was the only one really acting vigilant at the time.
The newly released transcripts, from a video conference on the day Hurricane Katrina struck, reinforces the argument that governments at all levels recognized the probable dangers from the Hurricane but did little in preparation for the oncoming destruction.
The transcripts also make President Bush out to be a Lolli-gagger at a time where his guidance and direction were needed most. The Republicans can try to spin to win on this but the proof is in the transcripts and the worst part is that they all let Michael Brown take the fall for this.
Numerous Democrats have accused President Bush of showing meager direction immediately after the hurricane disaster. The President advised he was doing all he could but that no one could have anticipated that the devastation and destruction the hurricane brought.
Transcripts from the video conferences explicitly show that the National Hurricane Center Director Max Mayfield articulated his grave concerns that Hurricane Katrina could cause a storm surge that would spill over the city’s levees and flood walls and breech the defense systems of the levees. Director Mayfield had stated, “I don’t think anyone can tell you with confidence right now whether the levees will be topped or not, but that’s obviously a very, very great concern.
After the hurricane President Bush stated in a September interview that, “I don’t think anyone anticipated the breach of the levees.
So who is the liar here, is it the transcripts or the President. Please tell me because I feel it’s my right to know.
