Bush Apointees Spur Roe V Wade Debate Again

Roe .vs. Wade sparks as much emotion from an individual as firing off a ‘Yo Mama’ joke in the middle of a church service. There is no middle ground in this debate, and at times there appears to be no rationality to an individuals’ position on this discussion, but be assured neither individual feels his position is wrong. Taking this into account, do you feel it’s the governments right to tell you if abortion is legal or not?

We all have our personal beliefs as far as religion goes but does the U.S. Government have the right to tell us what are own personal moral obligations our to ourselves? This is the biggest question this debate brings up, and yet there has never been a definitive answer.

In South Dakota, state lawmakers voted last Friday to outlaw nearly all abortions in South Dakota, they then sent the legislation to the governor who it is believed will sign it in to law.

The new legislation will threaten any doctors performing abortions in South Dakota with a prison sentence that could reach up to five years for each abortion performed, unless the abortion is performed to save a woman’s life.

The bill is considered to be a direct attack on the Roe v. Wade decision made in1973 by the U.S. Supreme Court. The 1973 decision legalized abortion throughout America.

There are many rumblings that numerous conservative states will now get their state lawmakers in motion hoping to overturn the Roe .vs. Wade decision for their state. These individuals are now motivated believing that the Supreme Court is now more likely to reverse the 1973 decision on the abortion issue because of the recent additions of John Roberts and Samuel Alito to the Court.

The Planned Parenthood organization in South Dakota has advised that they will challenge the measure in court if South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds signs it into law.

So where do you stand on this issue? Does the Government have the right to ban this act or should it be a womans’ free choice to decide? This is a hot topic now that will only become more prevalent as the election year heats up.

  1. Oh BS!

It’s pacifying the politicos in Congress who pretended to oppose it so they could garner more votes in November.
