Mardi Gras has returned to New Orleans and America is a better place because of it. The celebration of Mardi Gras was in jeopardy for the better part of the last year. However, true American spirit has shown through and as it is the American way, ‘The party must go on.”
There have been numerous setbacks in America in regards to the Hurricane Katrina devastation. We have high unemployment, massive asset loss, higher gas costs, and a very upsetting immigration policy debate. However, all of this aside, America has shown what makes America great, its ability to absorb adversity and move on.
The celebration of Mardi Gras brings back thoughts of the positive images that makes us proud to be Americans, we hear so much about what the world thinks of us that we forget its our own opinion of ourselves that matters most to us, and the Mardi Gras celebration shows us, we have a lot to be proud of.
I congratulate all of the hard working Americans who displayed true American spirit in making sure he area was prepared to celebrate one of our biggest events of the year. Your pride, determination, and will, once again displays o the world that America is the greatest country in the world.
America And Mardi Gras Move Forward
I’m glad that Mardi Gras is taking place this year. New Orleans is still very much a work in progress, but that doesn’t mean you can’t stop work long enough to have a party. I went to New Orleans last year before the hurricane, and I look forward to going back again. I wish nothing but the best for New Orleans and the people who live there. Laissez les bontemps roulez!
