President Bush says he would never outsource any job involved in the war on terror. However, I think his latest action could force many to say this man is lying. Numerous U.S. lawmakers have formally requested the Bush administration Thursday to re-evaluate their approval of a sale giving a business in the United Arab Emirates control over significant operations at six major American ports. Why are we selling out jobs that A Americans should be doing?
And in case anyone in the Bush administration has forgotten it was this country that allowed nuclear components to flow though its ports into areas like North Korea, Libya, and Iran. So tell us again President, have you ever outsourced A American jobs that are involved on the war on terror? Think carefully this time before you answer.
Several lawmakers have harshly criticized the United Arab Emirates as inconsistent, and unpredictable, in its support of U.S. anti-terrorism efforts in the Middle East. I think President Bush also has forgotten that the United Arab Emirates was one of only three nations in the world that considered the Taliban as Afghanistan’s legitimate government. How can a country with such a dubious track record be granted an important job as watching this vital sea port? Americans have handled this American port for years, why now is it being outsourced? Isn’t security in this area top priority?
The Bush Administration said they do not want a mushroom cloud to be the evidence that we failed in the war on terror. I think these dubious countries would have no problem sneaking a nuclear weapon through this port, I don’t believe he United Arab Emirates would bat an eye, I honestly don’t.
Senator Chuck Schumer stated, “Outsourcing the operations of our largest ports to a country with a dubious record on terrorism is a homeland security and commerce accident waiting to happen…The administration needs to take another look at this deal.”
