It has been reported that President Bush is seeking $98 billion additional dollars for the situation in Iraq; this also includes a throw in for Afghan funds. Do you feel your hard earned dollars should be spent in these countries any longer? When will it end? Will it ever?
Reportedly President Bush has asked Congress for $98 billion in supplementary funding for American military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan for 2006. If the supplementary funding is approved as it is expected to be, the request would raise war-related costs to almost $400 billion since the 9-11 attacks on the United States. This dies not include funding for unique non-military related projects we sponsor in Iraq.
How much more can America afford to cough up, and when will this drain on the American taxpayers be over? While we lose teachers, civil programs, and Medicare benefits, we are pumping billions of dollars into a country that apparently has no appreciation for our assistance.
50 billion dollars has already been approved for this year but now the supplemental monies will raise the years total to 120 billion. There is also speculation that once the 2006 elections are over the Bush Administration will ask for one more year end supplement. I ask again, “How much can we afford?”
Why don’t we take this 98 billion and build numerous domestic hybrid technology factories in America? Why don’t we give this money to American scientists and step up the studies of alternative fuels? Why don’t we take this money and send every American and their pets through college? I am sure there is some better way to spend this money than to keep dumping it aimlessly into this money pit of a failed policy.
How much longer can we keep just throwing money at this problem until it goes away? I got news for the leadership of this country, this is not an election, this is a failed policy, a bigger and bigger war chest will not resolve the problem. Throwing bad money after more bad money will not help out. We either need a better policy or we need to end this war. One way or another, hard working, taxpaying, Americans deserve better for their money.
Is this unbelievable or what!! Osama bin Laden was right…Al-Qaeda is going to make us bleed green. Nothing like taking a big hit in American history, right in the pocketbook. American taxpayers have had enough…how about spending some of that money in America?!? Bush stated that he wants to increase efficiency in math and science, then why is he cutting funding? Try sponsoring America for a change!
As Bernie Mac would say: “It’s time to wake up America!”
There was a joke in the sixties on “The Smothers Brothers” show with Pat Paulson. He claimed it cost the US government 100,000 dollars to kill each Viet Cong. He proposed we could buy them off much cheaper. I wonder how many millions per dead terrorist it costs. I propose we drop cash bombs on all terrorists, it would be cheaper and they might find being rich they don’t want to die (like most rich people).
