Dick Cheney Explanation Is A Day Late And A Dollar Short

A day late and a dollar short, Dick Cheney decided to speak to the media about the recent shooting incident he was involved in. Dick Cheney appeared on a cable news show to explain his concern, and role, in the accidental shooting of Harry Whittington. Maybe it was Valentines Day hangover, maybe it was the Presidents handlers, either way, Dick Cheney tried to show a softer gentler side, and for many it was very awkward, and disingenuous .

Many citizens hold no ill will toward Dick Cheney for the incident, what they are upset about is that this type of accident happened and the general public did not hear about it for almost 24 hours. Even when the news of the incident began to circulate, it was hard to get any comment, or follow up information, from either President Bushs’ Administration or Dick Cheneys’ staff. And it is this issue that has America up in arms.

Hillary Clinton herself spoke out against the secrecy of the Bush Administration, she advised that it is hard to trust this type of Administration when issues such as the Cheney incident are handled the way it was.

Dick Cheney himself appeared to defend his own secretive behavior by offering a very weak reason for his delay in releasing the information of the incident. He also appeared very reserved and withdrawn in regards to questions asked of him.

Another disturbing factor is that Scott McClellan gave a briefing to the press abut the Cheney incident and advised that nothing new is really known, or will be discussed, in regards to the Cheney incident. Meanwhile, most believe Scott McClellan was aware of the hear attack suffered by Harry Whittington. This brings up the question of whether Scott McClellan is in the loop or was he lying to the press, and furthermore, America.

The past three days have displayed to the American public what many have always feared, Dick Cheney plays by his own rules and answers to no one. The shooting is a tragedy, but the bigger tragedy may be the way it has been handled and the message the handling sends to American citizens.
