There are renewed threats coming out of Iraq that advise that the two German hostages being held in Iraq will be killed soon if the country of Germany does not agree to their requests. This situation is in addition to the Jill Carroll hostage situation. However, the Mohammad cartoon is still all the rage in the Middle East. How is this possible? The possible murder of three innocent individuals is barely mentioned in any news media in the Middle East yet the Mohammad cartoons, which are older news than Benafleck, or Brangelina, is still getting headline treatment. What is the reason? Is it politically motivated?

The Bush Administration has hit it right on the head when they state that leaders in the Middle East are keeping the hatred fire stoked in regards to the Mohammad cartoon because its in their best interests, anyone with any intelligence can see this fact.
Many feel that Islam is supported in the Middle East not only for religious reasons but also because it keeps those currently in power empowered. Many Muslims carry out ridiculous tasks because they feel it’s their religious duty, you cannot blame them; they are merely being manipulated by people they trust for unbeknownst political purposes. These individuals feel that those in power would never lie, or manipulate, for personal reasons, therefore any delegation of duty must be on the up and up.
However, just like the West has its religious con- Holy men, I am sure the Middle East does to, and the question must be asked, “Are there ulterior motives at work here in regards to the anti-western sentiment we see in regards to the Mohammad cartoon issue?” Keeping an anti-western hatred going is definitely an advantage for many Muslim leaders currently in power. These individuals provide no jobs, no education, no offer of a better future. Instead, like a shell con game, they redirect the attention of the mass populace and get them to look towards the west with hatred and spite.
When asked why there is no job creation they state, “It’s the Jews, It’s the Americans.” When asked why there is no health care, they state, “It’s the west, it’s the crusaders.” When asked. “Where is the future, they say, “It has been taken from you, kill the Jews, Kill the Americans, and then Paradise will be yours again.”
This rhetoric is getting old, we see the blatant racism, we see the hatred, and hopefully some of the intelligent Muslims in the Middle East see that they are being manipulated. The Mohammad cartoon is offensive, and I feel bad for anyone who was offended. However, I hope moderate Muslims come to their senses and stop the ridiculous violence; they need to understand they are being manipulated for purposes they are not even aware of.
