This is an issue that just won’t go away, and the problem with this is it has citizens emboldened on both sides of the discussion. Is Bush violating civil rights or isn’t he. His detractors decry impeachment, his supporters say ‘Hail Bush the Protector’, and how do you feel?
There is so much rhetoric being circulated about this issue that it is getting harder and harder to understand fact over perception. Has Bush broken any laws, according to him, and his administration, no? However, many fiery Democrats on Capitol Hill say otherwise, and they are telling anyone with a vote differently.
I imagine the truth lies somewhere in between yes we are losing some of our civil liberties, but no, technically laws are not being broken, this is a fine line but you don’t become President without knowing how to walk the Potomac tight rope.
While everyone has an opinion to offer I have seen no official statement quoting any law or policy. I have heard opinions, beliefs, desires, but I still have not heard exactly what law the president has broken.
It’s the fault of Democrats that we don’t know whether this is a real issue or not. The perception is they’ve ginned up so many scandals to go after Bush that the man could probably get away with anything.
If they’d kept their powder dry and used it in a less BDS manner, Democrats could have served their country’s interests better and likely won more elections.
Allan, many individuals feel the same as you, you make a very interesting point that I feel is gaining popularity among voters. Myself, regardless of my feelings for Alito, I feel the process has let me down. I appreciate your thoughts and ideas on this. Hopefully, more indivdiduals like yourself become involved in the political process and make politics a more proficient mechanism.
