Ariel Sharon : Israeli Prime Minister Suffers Stroke

Many see Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in very different ways. Some love him, some despise him, and others spend their lives just trying to understand the man. He has been controversial at times; he makes decisions in a manner he considers best for Israel, irregardless of popular, or public, opinion. Regardless of how you view the man personally, if he was forced to step away from a leadership role in Israeli politics, many feel the Middle East peace process would be thrown into disarray.

It has been reported that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has suffered what is being referred to as a “significant stroke” by a hospital official. Sharon was taken to the hospital from his ranch in the Negev desert. Sharon was scheduled for a hospital operation on Thursday but due to circumstances he was rushed to the hospital today.

Dr Shlomo Mor-Yosef has advised news media that Prime Minister Sharon is currently under general anesthetic, he is also receiving breathing assistance as his condition is assessed by doctors. Dr Mor-Yosef has stated that preliminary tests show Prime Minister Sharon has suffered bleeding inside his brain, and has been taken to the surgical ward for further procedures.

While Sharon is in his current conditions the Prime Minister powers and authorities have been transferred to his vice premier, Olmert.

Ariel haron recently suffered a mild stroke but many felt his condition has improved since that occurrence. Prime Minister Sharon is overweight but otherwise is considered to be in good health. He is 77 years old.

Ariel Sharon is the eleventh Prime Minister of Israel. He has served in either Israeli politics, or the military, for most of his life . He is a founding member and former head of the Likud party. He has recently split with the party on differences of ideals, he currently heads a new political party in Israel. Ariel Sharon also has served for over thirty years in the Israeli Defense Forces; he held the rank of Major General. The Prime minister is revered in Israel for his actions during the 1967 Six Day War and the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

Sharon is usually viewed by most Israeli’s as a war hero. However, he has come under increasing criticism in Israel for his decision regarding the recent Gaza pullout.

He was hospitalized in December 2005 after reportedly suffering a minor ischemic stroke. During his hospital stay, Sharon was also diagnosed with a minor hole in his heart. This was to be treated Thursday by a cardiac catheterization procedure that was supposed to fill the hole in his atrial septum.

Sharon was planning on running for re-election in a March election, he was going to be running as a member of his new found party, Kadima.

Many feel that Israel would be thrown into disorder and confusion if Sharon was forced from a political leadership role in Israel.

Israel is one of America’s staunchest allies; there is definite concern for this issue by leaders throughout the world.

  1. Where are the Muslims leaders who want equality and justice? Why have I not heard Muslim leaders come out and blast these types of statements?
We live in such a PC world, where are the do-gooders now? This staatement is appaling, I cannot believe how evil it sounds.
    Reported by AP:

In Damascus, Syria, a radical Palestinian leader called Sharon’s health crisis a gift from God.
“We say it frankly that God is great and is able to exact revenge on this butcher… We thank God for this gift he presented to us on this new year,” said Ahmed Jibril, leader of the Syrian-backed faction Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command, a small radical group.

  2. The Iranian President has also chimed in with even more disgusting comments:

TEHRAN, Iran – Iran’s president said Thursday he hoped for the death of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, the latest anti-Israeli comment by a leader who has already provoked international criticism for suggesting that Israel be “wiped off the map.”
“Hopefully, the news that the criminal of Sabra and Chatilla has joined his ancestors is final,” President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying by the semiofficial Iranian Students News Agency.

    Ahmadinejad was referring to Sharon

  3. We should all pray and hope for the bnest for this man. I can’t believe some of the boneheaded comments I have heard regarding his current helath situation. Even Pat Robertson made an idiot of himself by making his bone-headed comments. I agree, these Muslims get away with so much hate-speech, why do they get away with it? How can they hide behind their religion, is it just because they think we don’t understand it? That is dumb, we understand, we also see that they are hiding behind it like its a shield. To say what they said abour Sharon is disgusting. Anyone with any intelligence can see that Sharon was a major staple of peace and justice in the region, to say otherwise is rediculous.

  4. This region of the world needs stability as much as anywhere in the world. We can only hoep and pray for the best. If Sharon is unable to return to his duties, there will be an election within 100 days to find a replacement Prime Minister.
