Abramoff Pleads Guilty to Charges, Makes Deal

The investigations and indictments of Abramoff are of noteworthy importance because of the close political ties Abramoff has with leading Republicans Party members. There are also reports that he may have influenced some Democrats as well.

Abramoff, has long been considered to be one of Washington’s most notorious dealmakers. Prosecutors in the Justice Department have been looking into Abramoff’s dealings with four Republicans, former Representatives Tom DeLay of Texas, Representative Bob Ney of Ohio, Representative John Doolittle of California and Senator Conrad Burns of Montana.

The prosecutors are also investigating numerous current and former congressional aides, many of these individuals went on to work for Mr. Abramoff after their tenure as a congressional aide.

As much as he is involved in very nefarious deals involving government legislature, many concerned with the prosecution of Abramoff want to know what level of influence this man exerted on our elected officials. The deal he has struck in agreeing to a plea bargain will help the government discern what level his influence reached in Washington. The Justice Department wants to find out who reaped the benefits of his political connections, and whom did he influence?

  1. This story just keeps getting better and better…

Just look at were all of Jack’s “friends” are now…trying to run away as fast as they can. I will be interested to see just how far Jack Abramoff reached. I just wonder if he had any influence on the White House.

The Republican Culture of Corruption continues…not looking good for an election year!
