Rudkovsky went on to say that the effects of the new contract would devastate the Ukrainian economy, he stated, “If Ukraine agrees to buy gas at $230, the consequences will be catastrophic…The chemical and metallurgical industries that now make Ukraine’s economy highly competitive will immediately become unviableā¦This will in its turn destabilize the national currency. And all of this will catastrophically affect the investment climate in Ukraine.”
Is this the world we now do global business in? Can something so vital be taken away because of political differences? If so, how safe are we in outsourcing all of our goods and services to foreign countries? Is America prepared for this type of situation or do we think it could never happen to us?
How soon we have forgotten how China oppressed its own people because they wanted freedom of religion and politics, how about the governments of Thailand, India, Somalia, Indonesia, and now Russia.
Our reliance on these countries means we are enabling them to have a clear and loud voice in world events. Is this what America needs or should we be more cautious with our foreign policies?
How good would certain companies run if their call centers in India got shut down by government differences, or China quit sending over textiles, or the Middle East stops our delivery of gas? Where would we be? Think about that next time you discuss outsourcing with your friends and co-workers.
