Michigan Governor Granholm Fights Back Against Outsourcing

The state of Michigan has been beaten and battered by job loss in the manufacturing markets. The state has seen many jobs pack up and leave the country. However, rather than throw her hands up in the air and give up, Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm is spending her days fighting back, she is trying to regain Michigan’s prosperity one job at a time.

Many states in America are experiencing huge job losses as a side effect to the baseless outsourcing of their domestic jobs. However, Governor Granholm has enacted tax legislation that is making Michigan once again a very attractive location for businesses around the world.

The Governor has also established a committee whose is committed to the task of making Michigan more competitive in the job market. Jennifer and many Michigan legislators created the 21st Century Jobs Fund which will allocate nearly $400 million dollars of the state’s tobacco settlement toward bringing commerce and manufacturing back to Michigan. The Governor is also seeking technology business as well. The newly appointed Strategic Economic Investment and Commercialization Board is assisting the Governor in any way possible to help revive the states economy.

There is a very large bi-partisan effort in the state of Michigan that is helping bring jobs back into Michigan, and America, because of the efforts of Michigan legislators. These legislators have come to understand that as the number one consuming country in the world there is no reason we should not be the number one job creator in the world.

Signed into law by Governor Granholm last month, the 21st Century Jobs Fund will allocate nearly $400 million of the state’s tobacco settlement revenue in 2006-07 to support commercialization, capital investment and commercial lending efforts in the areas of life sciences, alternative energy, advanced manufacturing and homeland security and defense.
