Democrats Begin To Label Senator Lieberman A Republicrat

Democrats are becoming disenfranchised with Senator Joe Lieberman, his support from a staunch Democratic support base may be eroding quickly. The man who has constantly attacked media resources for what he terms indecency and irresponsibility is now drawing the ire of his political brethren.

Since receiving the Vice Presidential nomination in 2000 it has been all downhill for Senator Lieberman and his Democratic ties. Many Democrats feel Senator Lieberman has been growing away from the party for some time now.

Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman has recently been accused of becoming a Republicat during the past year. Many Democratic leaders want Senator Joe Lieberman to distance himself from Republicans he has been keeping time with recently. A growing number of Democratic members in Connecticut are beginning to float out trial balloons in an attempt to real back in Senator Lieberman, these Democrats feel Lieberman is swaying on many partisan issues. The trial balloons offer the suggestion that Democrats may be seeking a change in where they place their support for Democratic Senators in Connecticut. Adding fuel to the fire are the rumors that Lieberman could be tapped for the Secretary of Defense post if it was vacated by Donald Rumsfeld.

Leading the charge against Lieberman is Mitchell Fuchs, the chairman of the Fairfield Democratic Town Committee in Connecticut. Mitchell stated, “It’s at the point where he’s no longer interested in his own party’s opinion, he’s really out of touch with reality.” Many other Democrats in the Senate feel the same way.

The issue between Lieberman and many hard core Democrats actually began before the Rumsfeld issue, many began to take issue with Liebermans’ support of the Bush policies in Iraq. When Senator Lieberman’s recent trip to Iraq concluded he returned to America and began to advise citizens in public of the progress on the ground there, he suggested that Democrats should avoid harsh criticisms of President Bush’s Iraq policy.

The Republicans immediately seized the opportunity that Liebermans’ comments offered; Republicans began advising that Democrats lacked a coherent, unified message on Iraq. Many Republicans feel this attack was an opportunity provided by Liebermans’ comments.
