During the heat of discussions regarding the President and his method of protecting American citizens, it has been reported by the ATF that 150 pounds of explosives are now missing in New Mexico. It has been advised that the explosive materials were stolen at an unknown time between Dec. 13 and Sunday Dec 18. Now lets talk about the question of protection.
If you lived in this area how bad would you want persons of interest to be immediately wiretapped? Does Bush’ rush to tap policy seem so out of hand when a situation like this occurs, and you live right in the area? Would you want to send your kids off to school, your loved one to a crowded sports event, or yourself would you want to go to work in a very populated federal building, while the president waits for approval? Or do you want immediate protection?
Well ask individuals who live around ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO; they may have a different opinion of the wiretap issue.
It was reported that about 150 pounds of commercial plastic explosives disappeared from a private storage location, along with 2,500 blasting caps, and 20,000 feet of explosive detonation cord, in New Mexico.
Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White stated the obvious, “In the hands of the wrong person, this material can be very, very destructive.” An agent with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), said the missing material was enough to destroy a building.
The materials were reported stolen at a storage facility operated by Cherry Engineering. Cherry Engineering is federally certified as an explosives storage facility, the site is inspected weekly and has past compliance tests in consideration of ATF regulations.
The materials were originately reported missing by the owner of Cherry Engineering Inc. Reportedly the thieves used blowtorches to cut through the storage trailers, this has led many law authorities to surmise that the thieves knew exactly what they were after.
The missing material is reportedly enough explosives to cause a bombing in the scope of the recent Oklahoma City bombing.
The missing explosives are military grade explosives, they are large in size but officials say they could fit into a truck, van or SUV, police spokesman John Walsh said that the explosives look like plumber’s putty rolled up in wax paper.
And if this is not enough there is a radioactive truck running around in Venezuela that could cause an equal amount of devastation if utilized in a destructive terrorist manner.
