Does it really matter any longer what he said, she said? The issue should be, “what do we have to do to complete this mission and can you tell us exactly how to do it.” Why politicians are spending so much time and effort on stating what they already said, or did not say, is beyond reason. There are brave men and woman being put in harms way each day while American politicians bicker back and forth about their position, and previous position. It has gotten so bad that there are now numerous debates on whether it is proper to call it an exit strategy or a victory strategy. Call it whatever you want, it’s the details I am concerned with.
If the taxpayers are paying for this war then we deserve to know the business plan being used to run the war. What are our goals? What are our timetables? Who is assessing whether our goals and timetables are being met?
For many Americans it is review time at their jobs, they are assessed on their previously stated goals and advised how they did, who is doing this for our war strategy? What are the results? If we are accountable to our employers for our actions at work then why aren’t our Congressmen, Senators, and Governors, answerable to us, the taxpaying employers? Imagine telling your boss during your review meeting that you can’t tell him\her what you have been doing the past year; you most likely would get fired on the spot. So why do we let politicians get away with this?
I don’t care if it’s the Democrats or the Republicans or an Independent; I just want answers and results. Enough with the accusations, posturing, and blanket remarks, and please don’t give me the tired answer line any more stating, “If we give a timetable the insurgents will just wait us out.” This statement shows that the true perception of the situation is not being understood by those making the important policy decisions. The insurgents have waited us out since the last gulf war, they will wait the next fifty years if they have to, this answer will never satisfy the question. I expect more than this simplistic and almost condescending response.
Again I ask,” who is responsible to present to us the winning strategy for Iraq?” Present it and be accountable for it, end of discussion.
Utilize our government links shortcut to ask your elected official what the plan is, as a taxpayer you should demand answers.
