Finally I have heard from someone other than Lou Dobbs about the inability of America to protect its borders and protect its citizens from another 9-11 type terrorist attack. Many in congress discuss the plans but individuals responsible for answering Homeland Security questions are saying we have not done enough to protect our citizens from another catastrophic attack.
We worry so much about the conditions of Iraq, and Afghanistan, we have once again ignored the needs of our own citizens. How can American taxpaying dollars float out of the country so freely while there are still programs that need to be financed to insure our taxpayers are living the life of freedom and choice they pay their taxes for?
Thomas Kean advised that many of the security recommendations his commission recommended have not been properly financed and put into place, he stated, “We’re frustrated, all of us — frustrated at the lack of urgency in addressing these various problems.”
So what can be done and what will be done? Does the news of freedom on the march throughout Iraq really make you feel any safer at home when you hear that our own country is not safely secured or protected? At the very least we should have at least accomplished the upgrades to our communications infrastructures in major cities to help in the event a disaster does occur. However, even this task has been ignored and not addressed with the attention it deserves.
Read the Report Card from the 9/11 Commission
This is rediculous, it is not acceptable. You best believe there will be some trouble over this issue. We need to getthis taken care of immediately. No excuses any longer.
You are absolutely right Ariel…this is absurd. What I find ironic is the Bush Administration continuously states that it has adopted 40 of the 42 recommendations from the 9/11 Commission. What they don’t tell you is, yes we have adopted these recommendations, but we have done nothing to ensure they are done properly.
I have added the link to the 9/11 Report Card in the above article, I highly suggest everyone read it. Please reference our government contacts page for a link to email the White House or your State Representative.
I am confused on what exactly the commision got accomplished while it was a going concern? If nothing is much better then who can we hold responsible? How can Americans just settle for this bad report? I urge all of our patorns to contact their elected officials and demand more answers than we currently have.
