Bush Policy with Asia

Is it time we reconsider how we are negotiating our trade and human rights polciies with China? Many are neglecting the emerging influence this country is having on the world. Recently their economic policy has been influencing our American economy by encouraging the reduction in pay of many factory and manufactoring jobs. Where will your quality of life settle?

  1. I think we need to start taking steps to slow the importation of goods and services with China and other such countries. Taxing products at the border, giving tax breaks for companies that keep all production and assembly work in country, or setting limits on the amount of specific products we allow into the country would be a start. We will be criticized for this practice but other countries are already doing this and it’s time to start thinking about our country. It will cost each of us a little more to purchase the products that we want, but it will start to sway the pendulum back in our direction.

  2. Pat, I agree with your comments. If more Americans became aware of how to confront the growing spectre of our trade deficit we would all be in better shape. Fix the corporate tax rate and encourage domestic business growth. American comapny growth abroad does nothing for the average American, we need to keep work here in America if we want to provide bright futires for our younger generations.
