  1. There was an interesting interview on NPR yesterday about this issue; some guy from the Atlantic Monthly was talking about how the training of the Iraq army just can’t keep up with the growth of the insurgency. When asked about his solution for the U.S. occupation, he basically said, “I don’t have any answers, but I can say that if we want to pull out of Iraq in an honorable way (i.e., not leaving things worse than before), we should prepare for it to take many many years. If we’re NOT going to leave in an honorable way, we might as well do it as soon as possible.”

  2. John Kerry has responded tothe comments made about the statement that the same Democrats who are condemming the war are the same politicians who voted in support of the war. I believe we have already debated this issue to death. I believe we must now focus on how we will resolve this issue irregardless of whether it is a Democratic or Republican solution. Our soldiers who are the pawns in this discussion are the ones we should be most concerned about, if their presence is helpful and meaningful then they should continue on. However, if they are there because we are not willing to change a failed policy then I believe the call to bring them hom must be addressed. A timetable may not be sutiable but we must have a tangible way to gauge process and provide these brave soldiers with a hope that their duty will have an end and they will return home successfully.
