  1. The words Root Kit, Hackers, Malicious, Subversive Intentions, Compromised, are all words usually associated with devious individuals and computer criminals, not well respected global businesses. However, Sony has recently been accused of performing a malicious act that may be as bad as, or worse than, any malicious subversive computer hacker has perpetrated on the public in recent times. A hacker is not trusted into your circle of trust but Sony is easily welcomed in. However, it is alleged that Sony utilized our trust as a way to install a subversive program on our computer without our knowledge. It has recently been discussed that Sony has installed Root Kits on individuals’ computers unbeknownst to the users. A Root Kit is a hacker tool that captures passwords and communication traffic to and from a computer. The Root Kit effectively provides a hacker with a backdoor into your computer system; the hacker can then collect information on the compromised computer as well as other systems on a network. The Root Kit can mask the fact that the computer system is compromised. Why would Sony do this and what information have they collected? Do you feel like your privacy has been compromised when this occurs? What laws do government officials have in place to both stop and prosecute this type of behavior? You should educate and protect yourself from this type of invasion. The bigger question may be how will the American legal system deal with this issue? What is the congressional response?
